| Animated Gifs |
A file containing a series images that are displayed
in rapid sequence, giving an animated effect.

| Auto Responder |
When mail is sent to an address with an active auto responder, a message of your choice is automatically sent back to the sender.

| Bandwidth |
The amount of data that can be transmitted via a given communications channel in a given unit of time.

| Blog |
Web Log (Blog) is a diary kept on the internet. This diary is often updated daily and contains all information that the person maintaining the BLOG (Blogger) wishes to share with the world. Also applies to websites dedicated to a particular topic and being updated with the latest news, views and trends.

| Bookmark |
When you "bookmark" a page, you tell your browser
to remember that page's address (URL), so that you can go back to it easily,
without having to type in the URL again. Bookmarks are called "favorites"
in Microsoft Internet Explorer.

A software program used for searching and viewing various
web sites. The most popular Internet browsers are Microsoft Internet Explorer
and Netscape Navigator.

These are graphic links-they can be in the form of images
or text.

| Control Panel |
A control panel, in the web hosting sense, is a program that allows users and administrators alike to modify their web hosting preferences.

| Cookie |
It is information that a web site puts on your hard disk
so that it can remember something about you at a later time.

| Data Transfer |
The movement of information from one location to another.
|
| Domain Name |
The unique name that identifies an Internet site.
|
| Email Forwarding |
When email forwarding is activated, messages sent to a certain email address are forwarded to another address.

| Error Pages |
This page will be displayed to users in the event that
an error occurs on your site.

| Flash Intro |
Dynamic introduction page with animated effects.
|
| Forms |
Online, interactive forms. They are useful for feedback
and taking orders.
|
| Forum |
An online discussion group, where participants with common interests can exchange open messages.
|
| Ftp |
File Transfer Protocol - A way of transferring files over the Internet from one computer to another.
|
| Gif |
Graphic Interchange Format - A common format for image files, especially suitable for images containing large areas of the same colour.
|
| Home page |
The first page on a Web site, which introduces the site and provides the means of navigation.
|
| Hosting |
Hosting is making sure that your site is continuously
online, and you can receive emails from it.
|
| Image Map |
An image that has different regions that respond to user interaction in a different way such as clicking on a state in a map of a country. Usually, each region is a link to a different web page.

This is your home page - the first page that visitors
see when they enter your site

| Jpeg |
Joint Photographic Experts Group (also abbreviated jpg) and pronounced jay-peg. JPEG is compression technique for colour images and photographs that balances compression against loss of detail in the image.

A menu consisting a series of links, jumping to a specific
location within the page.

| Keywords |
They are words most likely to be used by surfers when
searching for information through a search engine.

| Mailbox |
The file or directory where your incoming e-mail messages are stored by your Internet Service Provider.

| Meta Tag |
A meta tag is hidden on a web page, which is used by
the search engines when indexing a site.
|
| Plug-ins |
Plug-ins are programs that can be downloaded easily,
to give browsers extra capabilities for viewing web pages.

| Scanning |
Any images need to be scanned into an electronic format
from paper copies and optimised for the web.
|
| Search Engine |
A tool that enables users to locate information on the
World Wide Web.
|
| Secondary Pages |
These are any other pages that are linked to the home page.
|
| Server |
A special computer connected to a network that provides (serves up) data. A Web server transmits Web pages over the Internet when it receives a Web browser's request for a page. A server can also be called a host.

| Site Maintenance |
Assistance in the day-to-day maintenance of a web site
(such as changing pages, or managing the products in your store).
|
| Thumbnail |
A small version of an image on a web page, usually containing
a link to a full-size version of the image.
|
| URL |
Uniform Resource Locator. It is the address of your site
accessible on the Internet.
|
| WebMail |
A secure web application (using SSL) that allows you to read your email securely from a remote location via a web browser.
